You know who I love? Stacy and Clinton from What Not to Wear. I've been watching that show for years and more often than not, I still get kinda misty when their client comes out for the big reveal.
I wonder if Stacy and Clinton know just what an impact they have on peoples' lives. To some extent, I'm sure they feel it is "just their job" to come in to work, rank on the clothes people wear, suggest a kitten heel with a lovely cashmere shweater, go through the 2 days of shopping and send the person back home. But I hope they know that the time they spend with that person, in my mind, is so very priceless. It is obvious that most people walk a little taller, feel much more confident and feel they can walk into a room with poise and va-voom. And I don't think that's nothing. To boost someone on that level so that all that positivity can't help but trickle down in their lives is golden.
Maybe more of us should try to make someone feel good about themselves. Maybe we could try to say one really nice thing to one person everyday. Let's pay more attention to each other and see people doing good stuff. Let the niceness begin. Call it an experiment of the heart.
For me it's hard to do because for some reason I become so filled with emotion that I, um, well, I can tend to blubber. Who wants some lady walking up to them and saying, "I noticed you always buy an extra $20.00 worth of groceries for the food bank bin. I admire that." But with a croaking voice and tears falling down. There is such a person out there. I've never been able to tell her, but I silently bless her heart. Which is why this is such a good forum for me. No visible slobbering. That seems to work well.
P.S. If you don't know who Stacy and Clinton are, their show is on TLC on Fridays at 9:00. They really are delicious.

Remember when Stacey and Clinton made the girl with the huge boobs go to the store for heavy ladies because she was trying to squeeze her boobs into little shirts? They took her there and she saw what store it was and told them flatly that since she lost so much weight she had vowed to never shop at store 'X" again. She was a very defiant girl, and she said this to them also very defiantly, but her lip was still starting to tremble a little. And they said: GET OVER IT, BUY A SHIRT THAT FITS YOUR BOOBS, and the HAVE THE REST OF IT TAILORED!
And I thought that scene was AWSUM.
