Quite a few years ago, I heard a great piece on NPR. It was an essay by a woman, and as is often the case with me, I was so moved I was reduced to tears.
She talked about noticing the kind things that people would do for one another. So, armed with a pack of star stickers, she would approach this random kind person and reward them with a gold star on their hand. Isn't that neato?
I was flabbergasted. To walk up to someone and recite something wonderful that you witnessed them doing, well...........I was impressed. Just the utter loveliness of such a gesture. And imagine being on the receiving end? Talk about making someones day.
To me, it seems very brave, but to this woman, I imagine she was just doing what seemed right.
How on earth do I get a hold of some of that bravura?
Where is she these days? I wish she could know that I think she is grand.
