Here's who I love.
The Smothers Brothers. Tom on guitar and and Dick on stand-up bass.
Smart. Political. Veddy funny.
They are two brothers who have been performing together since at least the sixties. They had their own variety show,(remember those?) and they were actually censored By CBS because they had the gall to voice their objection to the Vietnam war.
I love people who are brave and voice their concerns about issues simply because they must. To not do so is not even a thought. Sometimes issues or people are slammed in song, sometimes through poetry. As long as we are speaking our hearts, I'm good with that. As long as it's true.
I got to see them during the previous administration, which provided oodles of fodder for their show. They are so funny and so eloquent and I would so go see them again.
There is something about hearing siblings or family members sing together. The resonance and harmony of the voices is a thrill.
Think:
The Jackson Five, The Lennon Sisters, the Nields, The Staples Family, The Bee Gees, The Partridge Family. Just kidding on that last one.
If you can get to see the Smothers Brothers you would never regret it. They are America at it's best.
