Oh dear. Sometimes I get quite distressed with this fact. There are people who don't know anything of Jacques Cousteau.

Oh dear.

I guess you have to be of a certain age to remember The Undersea World of Jacques Cousteau. I loved to watch that show. Can't you just hear his voice now, talking about the nitrogen narcosis or the little sea otters they adopted, Pepito and Cristobal? It's funny how strongly I can still hear his voice. I think that's because he is the main man of the Universe. Well, my universe anyway.

Let's all be forever grateful that he opened our eyes to the beautiful oceans and insisted we take immediate steps to preserve them.

How do we ensure that his name is remembered? Surely one of the most important people on the planet deserves something like Jacques Cousteau Day? Perhaps we could all give a silent (or a really loud, whatever you choose) prayer of thanks and appreciation on his birthday, June 11th. Don't worry, I'll remind you.

It's not like we can name an island after him like Mexico did. It's in the Sea of Cortez. Well done, Mexico.

43 cheers

Happy March everyone! People Are Wonderful is one year old. WHEEEHOOO!

To celebrate I shall tell you of a wonderful program run by wonderful people. The Humane Society of the United States has this fantastic program called Coats for Cubs. They will accept your old-given-to-you-by-your-great-Aunt-Zelda-just-gathering-dust-in-the-closet-oooky-fur coat. Also hats and mittens and such. They then send them to wildlife rehabilitators(love them to pieces) who then use them with the little orphaned or injured animals they are saving. The coats are cut to size for whatever possum, raccoon, squirrel or rabbit happens to need some extra comfort and coziness. The hats are often turned inside out to make a nesty for the little bobo. It really lowers the stress level of the animal so they can concentrate on healing.

Oh my goodness the wonderfulness of it.

My mom has a muskrat coat and we will be sending it away, away to help a little critter feel some deserved comfort.

For any of you who know me and you have a coat to donate, I sure will send it along.

Check out the website at :

Thanks all you wonderful lovies.
